Method 1 of 5: Simple Fruit Salad
Choose your fruits. Pick up fresh fruit from the farmer's market or your local grocery store and make sure that they are nice and ripe and ready to be made into a salad. If they are not ripe enough, then the salad will be a bit tough to chew. It is better for them to be a bit overripe than unripe so that the flavors blend. For this simple fruit salad, you'll need strawberries, cherries, blueberries, red apples, peaches, and a kiwi.

Wash all of your fruits. It's important to wash all of your fruits before you dice them into a salad.
Halve your cherries. If you want the salad to be easy to eat without having to run into any cherry pits, then you should halve 1 cup of red cherries before you put them into the salad. Just cut each cherry in half and remove its pit.
Chop the strawberries, red apple, peach, and kiwi into bite-sized pieces. Place 1 cup of strawberries, 1 cup of cherries, 1/2 of a red apple, 1/2 of a peach, and 1 kiwi on a cutting board and dice them into bite-sized pieces, measuring over 1 inch (2.5 cm) or so.
Place all the fruit in a bowl. You can coat the bowl in 2 tbsp. of lemon juice first to sweeten the fruit and keep them from oxidizing quickly. Place the strawberries, chopped cherries, 1/2 of a red apple, 1/2 of a peach, 1 kiwi, and 1/2 a cup of blueberries together in the bowl. You can toss them lightly to blend the flavors.
Serve. Enjoy this dish at room temperature or slightly chilled. Pair this dish with a glass of orange juice to help bring out its fruity flavor.
Method 2 of 5: Simple Fruit Salad with Orange Juice
1Pour 1 cup of orange juice into a bowl.
Pour the chopped ingredients of the simple fruit salad into the bowl. Allow them to soak in the orange juice for at least five minutes.
Serve. Drain the orange juice from the fruit bowl and enjoy this delicious tangy fruit salad. If you're an orange juice lover, then you can drain the juice in to a cup and drink it, or even enjoy the fruit salad with the juice in the bowl.
Method 3 of 5: Avocado Fruit Salad
Cut the avocados into chunks. Cut 3 medium ripe pitted California avocados into chunks. To do this, you can cut the avocado in half, take out the pit, and then make checkered cuts along both sides of the avocado, making sure the knife goes into almost the back of the avocado. Then, you can scoop out the avocado cubes with a spoon.
2Place them in a bowl.
Drizzle them with 2 tbsp. of lemon juice. Toss them to coat them with the juice.
Drain the juice and reserve it. Set the avocados aside.
Make the dressing. Combine the 1/2 cup of plain yogurt, 2 tbsp. of honey, and 1 tsp. of grated lemon peel together in a small bowl.
Toss the fruit and avocado together in a large bowl. Dice and toss I medium apple, 1 medium firm banana, 1 cup halved seedless grapes, and 1 can (11 oz.) of drained mandarin oranges together in a bowl.
Coat the fruit with the dressing. Pour the dressing over the fruit and toss it to combine the ingredients.
Finished.
Tricks For Better Fruit Salads
It may seem as though there's not much to a fruit salad other than tossing chopped fruit in a bowl, but a few simple tricks transform a flat fruit salad into something enticing to the eye and pleasing to the palate. From picking fruit with the same level of ripeness to spritzing fruit with lemon juice, these 10 tricks will help you make better fruit salads all year round.
Flavor- and texture-wise, seasonal fruit always tastes better. Ever had mealy, bland blueberries or apples during their off-season? It's a common and often accidental occurrence, but it's best to avoid buying produce from halfway around the world during its off-season. Instead, look for seasonal produce that's local to you  or at least originating from the continent in which you live.
Choose Fruit With the Same Levels of Ripeness
A fruit salad instantly becomes less appetizing when some bites are mushy and other bites are too tart and tough. Avoid the incongruousness by choosing fruit with even stages of ripeness. Texturally, it will taste better if all pieces of fruit are soft and ripe with a slight crunch to each bite. Additionally, overly ripe fruit can disintegrate quickly into a pulpy mush that coats all the other fruit pieces. By mixing together ripe but not mushy fruits, salads look fresh and vibrant for a longer period of time.
